《침잠 沈潛》 정연경 7회 개인전 삼세영갤러리

삼세영갤러리는 2025년 6월 10일부터 24일까지 정연경 작가의 일곱 번째 개인전 《침잠 沈潛》을 개최한다. 본 전시는 유화의 물성과 반복되는 선, 축적되는 층을 통해 감정과 사유의 결을 구축해 온 정연경 작가의 회화 세계를 공간 전체로 확장하는 시도이다.

《침잠 沈潛》은 화려함보다 눌러 담은 색, 외형보다 감정의 결에 집중해온 작가의 회화 세계를 영상과 오브제, 언어 설치까지 이어가는 입체적 전시로 구성된다. 정적인 회화의 감각은 그릇장이나 소반 등에 놓인 물감 오브제와 정원의 바람에 반응하는 단어 설치, 그리고 두 편의 영상 작업으로 공간 전체에 조용한 리듬을 형성한다.

정연경 작가는 유화를 통해 전통 한국 회화의 미학과 동양철학의 사유를 현대적으로 풀어내는 회화 작가이다. 여백의 미, 반복된 선, 절제된 색채를 통해 자연과 감정의 흐름, 시간의 순환성을 포착하며, 무위(無爲)의 사유를 기반으로 한 메타페인팅 회화를 실천하고 있다. 박영택 평론가는 그녀의 작업을 "소요(逍遙)하는 낯선 생명체"라 평하며, 단색화 이후의 감정적 회화의 가능성을 그녀의 작업 안에서 조명한 바 있다.

침잠 沈潛

가장 조용한 순간 마음은 형상이 된다.

겹겹의 선과 여백 속에 감정이 스며든다.

선을 긋고, 색을 얹고, 여백을 남기며

보이지 않는 결이 조용히 쌓여간다.

그 과정은 조용하지만 결코 정지되어 있지 않다.

시간은 스며들고, 감정은 층을 이루며,

내면은 겉으로 드러나지 않은 채 캔버스 안으로 침잠해간다.

이 작업들은 멈추어 선 것이 아니라,

겹겹이 쌓인 마음의 결이며 조용히 스며든 시간이다.

그 안에는 말보다 오래 머무는 고요가 있다.

Jung Yeonkyung's 7th Solo Exhibition
Samseyoung Gallery | June 10 – 24, 2025


Samseyoung Gallery is pleased to present Sinking Stillness (沈潛), the seventh solo exhibition by artist Jung Yeonkyung, on view from June 10 to 24, 2025. This exhibition expands the artist’s painterly language—developed through the materiality of oil, repeated lines, and layered surfaces—into an immersive spatial experience.

Rather than vivid colors or outward expression, Jung’s practice has long focused on quiet hues and emotional texture. In this exhibition, her signature stillness is extended into pigment-based objects placed on traditional Korean furniture, linguistic installations that respond to the breeze in the gallery’s garden, and two time-based video works—together composing a space of subtle rhythm and sensory reflection.

Jung Yeonkyung is an oil painter who reinterprets the aesthetics of traditional Korean painting and the philosophy of East Asia in a contemporary context. Through muted palettes, repetition, and compositional restraint, she captures the cyclical rhythms of nature and emotion. Her work is grounded in the concept of wu wei (無爲, non-action) and realized through a metapainting methodology. Art critic Park Young-Taek has described her work as “wandering unfamiliar life forms,” highlighting her contribution to the evolution of emotive abstraction in the wake of Dansaekhwa.

SINKING STILLNESS 沈潛

In the quietest moment, the mind becomes form.
Emotion seeps into layers of line and space.

Drawing lines, placing color, leaving silence—
an invisible texture builds gently.

Though the process is quiet, it is never still.
Time seeps in, emotion takes shape,
and the inner world sinks silently into canvas.

These works do not stand still;
they are built from emotional sediment,
from time that has quietly settled.

Within them lies a stillness that lingers longer than words.
